Our Swim Club was formed in 2002 and has grown from 45 swimmers at its inception to more than 180 swimmers this season. We pride ourselves on the sense of community and of support we are building at Swim STMA. Our goal is to provide an environment where kids can learn to succeed as swimmers and as people. We do not focus on the places swimmers take; we focus on their own times and reward improvement no matter how big or small. As strange as it may sound, swimming success comes from swimming failures; we hope to create an environment where failure is acceptable and built upon. Swam competitively for Brooklyn Swim Team from 5-17 years of age. Michelle made it to Junior Olympics (JO) in the 400M Freestyle and participated in Relays at the age of 12. She also swam for her High School Team from 7th to 11th grade. She was unable to continue her swimming career after a car accident and having three knee surgeries. Michelle began coaching for Swim STMA when it was a Community Ed program and continued when it became a USA Swimming club in 2000. She has 2 children and currently is working for ReMax Realty.

Swam competitively for 10 years (ages 7-17) for the Beaver Dam Swim Team in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin . She qualified for state in the Breaststroke all 10 years. She went on to swim varsity for 4 years in high school and qualified for State in the 100 and 200 yd Breaststroke. Terri has a bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Research and Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she did research for 2 years. She has lived in Minnesota for 10 years and in St. Michael for 4 years. Terri is a member of the STMA Women of Today and is still a faithful softball player. She is married with one child, and spends most of her free time on her Home Jewelry Business.

Swam for Winona Waves Swim Club and Winona Senior High for many years. He was a State Champion in the 200Y Freestyle and runner up in the 500Y Freestyle. Tom swam one year for college at University of Minnesota. He also has many years of experience as a coach. He was a Head Coach for 4 years at Winona Swim Club, Head Coach for 2 years at Ames Cyclone Aquatic Club and an Undergrad Assistant Coach for 4 years at Iowa State University. Tom has 6 children and has an engineering degree.
