The  practice schedule is available on our website under the practice Calendar tab. Select "Show Tag Menu" and choose the levels that you want to see. The calendar will re-format with a personalized calendar.

We recommend that swimmers attend all practices available for their group for the first two weeks of the session.  This gets them through that transition time and the swimmer really finds out what day, if any, is the day that is the biggest struggle.  After that, the swimmer and their family can decide which days work best for them.  Swimmers and families are able to use the calendar as a guideline to fit the offered practices into their schedules and other activities.  Our coaches assume that swimmers are going to miss practice here and there for many different reasons. 

One of the best things about swimming is that the swimmers get what they put into it.  It is training of self-discipline and inner-strength.  Even the swimmer that may come every day, but does not swim their best practices will see it in the end.  Our program uses attendance for a few things: practice & stroke building, meets, relays, and coaching decisions.  Practices that are on the calendar are the recommended practices and commitment for that particular group.  We use attendance for decisions like: is this swimmer ready and/or prepared for his/her finals?  Or if the swimmer is the top swimmer for his/her age group, we would consider: has this swimmer put in the same/near amount of dedication as other teammates to swim on a relay.  We want to see the swimmers at the majority of practices to allow them to develop into the best they can be.  We do understand that swimmers are going to miss practice, but then they miss what we have coached.

Expectations of our Swimmers
•    Locker room:  Swimmers need to keep track of their equipment and belongings.  DO NOT touch belongings that are not yours.  Unless your child is a Middle School student with an assigned locking locker, it is recommended that all personal belongings be brought into the pool and left in the bleachers during practice.
•    Practice:  Swimmers need to ready to swim at the start of practice.  We recommend that swimmers arrive 5-10 mins prior to the start of their practice to get into the pool area and ready to swim.  Swimmers should wait in the bleachers until the coaches are ready to begin.
•    Behavioral expectations for our swimmers in the Silver and Gold groups are set much higher.  Swimmers in these groups are not there just based on swimming ability.  These swimmers are dedicated and have a goal oriented approach to swimming.  Swimmers at this level should be capable and trusted to follow and complete a workout plan given to them by the coach.  Any behaviors which are disruptive to other swimmers’ ability to train will be dealt with swiftly and decisively.  Any swimmer who can not conduct themselves accordingly will be moved to a different swim group or suspended from practice for a period of time determined by the coaches. 
•    Discipline:  The majority of the discipline will be an individual coach’s decision made at the time they see bad behavior.  Actions they may take can include a time out where the swimmer will sit on deck for a period of time.  For a repeated behavior or serious action, a swimmer may have to sit out the remainder of practice on the pool deck or the bleachers.  If a swimmer’s bad behavior is repeated and not corrected through “time outs” or escalates, the coaches along with a board member will hold a discussion with the parent(s) to explain the impact of the behavior and request their assistance in preventing further occurrences.  The club has the discretion to suspend a child from practice for any period of time, or if commiserate with the behavior, suspend locker room privileges.  Any discipline outside of a “time out” will be communicated to the parents. 
 

•    Volunteering:  Your time and talents are vital to our club’s success.  We are a parent run organization.  Minimum volunteer requirements are communicated at the time of registration.  Those families that do not meet their minimum volunteer hours will be billed at the end of the season for the hours missed.  Parents are encouraged to attend the board meetings and if you want to help build the organization and set the culture of the club, you may want to consider a position on the board.  Non-voting positions are a simple matter of volunteering.  An annual election is held in March and each year several voting positions on the board are open.
•    Drop off and Picking up your Swimmer:   Your swimmer should be ready to enter the water at the start of the posted practice time.  That requires that they arrive at the pool 5-10 minutes before the start of practice.  If you are just dropping them off, please wait until they have entered the building before you leave.  In the event of a last minute pool closing or cancelled practice a sign will be posted on the doors and your child can go home with you immediately.  Parents should be at the school/pool waiting for their swimmer after practice.  You need to arrive no more than 10 minutes after the end of the posted practice time.  One coach will always remain until the last child is picked up.  At this time we have no “late pickup” policy.  Many clubs require parents to park and come into the pool before practice ends to wait for their swimmer.  Others have a policy which parents are required to pay a fine if they are late.  At this time we just ask for your diligent cooperation so the need for such policies does not arise.    
•    How to communicate any parent issues or concerns:  From time to time a parent may have a question or concern they need answered or resolved.  At no time during practice or a meet are parents allowed to come on the pool deck.  You must trust that the coaches will deal with any immediate concern.  You may approach the coach after practice to set up a mutually convenient time to talk.  You may also send an email to a coach or board member with any concerns.  Contact information is available on our website. 
•    Sportmanship:   How our swim parents conduct themselves in the stands is a reflection on our team.  You can never know who is sitting nearby in the stands and could overhear disparaging remarks made about a swimmer, a coach or the club.  We ask that you keep a positive outlook, bring concerns and issues to the board for resolution, rather then discussing them in the stands.
 

•    Statements:  Account statements are created and emailed the first week of each month.  We make every effort to be current with recording all billings and payments.  Adjustments or payments made to your account may take 10-14 days to appear on your statement.  Payments dropped at the pool or mailed or our PO Box are collected and a weekly deposit is made, usually on a Friday.  Please indicate on the memo who the swimmer is and what charges you are paying.  This is especially helpful if you have multiple swimmers or if your last name is different than your child’s.  Please email the club with any billing inquiries and allow 4-5 business days for a response. 
•    Past Due Accounts:   For returning families; it is club policy that your account from the previous season is paid in full prior to the start of the new season.  If you past season account does not get paid, your swimmer will not be able to attend practice until it has been resolved.  Questions on your account or payment concerns should be directed to the club treasurer.  Payments can be made online via the website, checks can be dropped off at the pool in our payment box, or you can mail your checks to the club at Sea Devils Swim Club, P.O. Box 411,  St. Michael, MN  55376.              
 

 End of Practice Pick up policy 

Regulation Applies to: All parents or legal guardians who are dropping off swimmers and picking up swimmers from the St. Michael/Albertville Middle School East or practice facility designated by the STMA Sea Devils. 

Practice times are posted on the STMA Sea Devils website and communicated through e-mail to addresses provided to the STMA Sea Devils. 

Definitions: 

End of Practice: The end of practice is the latest time listed for each session. Days with more than one session will have TWO end of practice time periods. 

Example: Bronze 4:00pm – 5:00pm 

Copper 4:00pm – 5:15pm 

Silver 5:00pm – 6:30pm 

Gold 5:00pm – 7:00pm 

The end of practice for the session above is 7:00pm; late fees will start to be assessed at 7:15pm! 

***Please note: a Bronze, Copper or Silver swimmer will not be supervised from the end time of each group until the end time of the final group, in the case above 7:00pm. All incidents during this time will not be the responsibility of the swim club.*** 

Policy: 

At the end of practice, there will be a 15 minute time period allowed for all swimmers to take a shower, dress and exit the locker rooms. No swimmer will be allowed to remain in the pool area or locker rooms beyond that time period. 

After the 15 minute time period, all swimmers must be picked up at the practice facility identified by their parent or legal guardian. A failure to be picked up will result in an automatic $20 fine. Fines will be assessed per the time chart below: 

0-15 minutes: Post practice shower/dress time 

15-30 minutes: $20 

31-45 minutes: $40 

46-60 minutes: $60, etc, etc. 

Parents will have fees posted to their account and verification of payment will be needed. If paying by check, please note in the lower left corner that this is for a late pickup fee!! 

If you know you will be late, please notify the coaches, charges will still apply!
