Dear Swim Families,
Swim STMA is a parent run organization which operates solely on parent volunteers. Our club cannot function without our parents and family members volunteering. Our biggest need each season is making sure that we have enough volunteers to staff all the positions needed to run the meets that our team hosts. This season, we have two full-weekend meets. It is mandatory that your family volunteer as explained below.
The Swim STMA Sea Devils has a point based volunteer policy comprising of both MEET and GENERAL volunteer service points as well as a volunteer incentive program, all of which are detailed below.
MEET SERVICE POINTS:
- A minimum of 20 MSP’s are required per family
- There will be 2 home meets this season, each of which have 4 sessions. They are on October 24-25, 2009 and January 30-31, 2010.
- Each meet volunteer job is worth 5 MSP’s. Your family will be responsible for volunteering for at least 4 of the 8 total meet sessions this season in order to earn the 20 required points. **If you have possible schedule conflicts, it is your responsibility to plan ahead and make sure you complete all 4 of your required sessions during at least one of the meets.**
- Each family must sign up for a minimum of ONE of the four PM/AFTERNOON shifts available at our home meets, even if their swimmer competes in the morning.
- Families that do not earn a minimum of 20 MSP’s will be charged $10 per point not completed by the end of the second home meet. ($50 per session not completed, up to $200).
GENERAL SERVICE POINTS:
- A minimum of 5 GSP’s are required per family.
- Families that do not earn a minimum of GSP’s will be charge $10 per point not completed by the end of the season. (Up to $50)
- General Service Points are earned by signing up for jobs such as meet preparation (setup, baking, stapling programs, etc.), Meet Cleanup, fundraising efforts, attending board meetings or any other volunteer opportunities that might come up throughout the season.
VOLUNTEER INCENTIVES:
The requirements listed above reflect the minimum level of participation that we ask of each swim family. We are lucky to have many families that repeatedly go above and beyond. To encourage everyone to go that extra mile, we offer a Volunteer Incentive Program. Families who complete their ENTIRE volunteer obligation (detailed above), will earn an entry into a drawing at the end of the season for one of two $250 credits to your swimmers’ account. Additional drawing entries can be earned for every 5 Service Points once the minimum obligation has been met. A family who meets the minimum volunteer points will have a single entry into the drawing. Additional entries can only be achieved through volunteering above the required minimum. There is NO LIMIT to the amount of entries your family can earn, the more you volunteer, the better your chance of winning! The credit can only be used for registration next season, or for meet fees. The credit must be used within 1 year and cannot be used for MSI fees, equipment purchases or redeemed for cash.
The volunteer non-voting board members automatically receive 20 General Volunteer Service Points in addition to any additional meet or general service points that they earn. Elected Board Members themselves are not eligible for volunteer incentives, but their family members who volunteer are eligible.
We are lucky to have many dedicated swim parents who are very invested in their swim club.
Thank you,
Sea Devils Swimming Parent Board
